BRAC
BRAC is an international development organization based in Bangladesh, To receive foreign donations, BRAC was subsequently registered under the NGO Affairs Bureau of the Government of Bangladesh. BRAC is the largest non-governmental development organization in the world, in terms of the number of employees as of September 2016. Established by Sir Fazle Hasan Abed in 1972 after the independence of Bangladesh, BRAC is present in all 64 districts of Bangladesh as well as 11 other countries in Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
BRAC states that it employs over 90,000 people, roughly 70 percent of who are women and that it reaches more than 126 million people with its services. The organization is partly self-funded through many social enterprises that include a dairy and food project, a chain of retail handicraft stores called Aarong, seed and Agro[clarification needed], and chicken. BRAC has operations in 11 countries of the world.
BRAC Bank was founded on 4 July 2001 to reach a large number of unbanked people who were not covered by a traditional bank. The main concept of the bank was to facilitate Small and Medium Enterprises.
