DGHS Bangladesh
The DGHS is one of the agencies of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare of Bangladesh. The main functions of this agency are the implementation of different health programs, health management, and planning & execution of various policies through administration. In addition to this, DGHS provides technical assistance to the ministry.
The DGHS was established as a Directorate in 1958 during the Pakistani era. In 1980, it has been upgraded to Directorate General. The head of DGHS is Director-General. Two Additional Director General assists him. Different line directors, deputy directors, assistant directors, medical officers, other officers & supporting staff also help him to execute all responsibilities. In all medical college hospitals and divisional offices, directors are responsible for all kinds of administrative functions.
In all medical colleges, principals are available for academic purposes. At the district level, Civil Surgeon and in the Upazila level, Upazila Health & Family Planning Officer (UHFPO) is the facility head. The Director of Management Information System (MIS) is Dr. Ashish Kumar Saha.
