Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute (BWMRI)

Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute (BWMRI) is a newly established research institute. The institute has been established through passing the “Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute Bill, 2017” in the National Parliament aiming at increasing production of wheat and maize and conducting related research and training activities in the country. The headquarters of the institute is located at Nashipur, Dinajpur. Director-General works as the chief executive of the institute. At present all wheat and maize research activities are being carried out in different regions and substations like Debigonj, Thakurgaon, Rajshahi, Jashore, Jamalpur, Joydebpur, and Hathazari, etc. from the headquarter.

  Development of wheat and maize varieties and technologies to ensure food and nutritional security
• Mission:
  Development of high-yielding varieties of wheat and maize and improved production technologies and conduct research on disease and insect pest management, agricultural machinery, post-harvest processing, and management to develop appropriate technologies and transfer of newly developed varieties and technologies to different stakeholders.
